• It is estimated that some 850 million people in the world suffer from hunger and malnutrition, about 100 times as many as those who actually die from it each year.

We Work for Long-term Food Security, not for Standby Food

"Chronic hunger" or "food insecurity" means that a family isn't meeting its most basic nutritional need for some or all of the year. Our stress is to help families achieve permanent "food security" by ensuring that they have the ability to grow or buy enough food to maintain a healthy and productive life.

Food security is a complex problem that includes:
• Availability of Food: Ensuring consistent and adequate access to food for each member of the family.

• Access to Resources: Building resources (such as improving income and savings) to obtain food for the family even during lean seasons.

• Proper Health: One’s access to basic health cares so that the bodies can absorb food properly.
